ChapEx25: Call for Participants

ChapEx 2025

Denmark: July 31st – August 5th

ChapEx is a volunteer-led initiative funded by Erasmus+.

It stands for chapter exchange and this year’s edition will gather volunteers of all chapters from the 5 participating AFS countries. After two editions in 2022 in Serbia and Iceland, this year’s ChapEx will take place in Denmark from the 31st of July to the 5th of August 2025.

The 40 participants will have the opportunity to meet, exchange experiences and perspectives and reflect on the following topic: “Youth as mediators in conflict-prone societies” with the objective of exploring the role of the youth, and specifically the AFS youth, in using intercultural understand to mitigate tensions and promote dialogue on different levels.

If you are interested in this topic and you want to take part to this AFS intercultural adventure for volunteers, make sure to apply by 20th of April 2025.

Conditions to be a participant

– Be an active volunteer from one of the participating AFS countries

– Be between 18 and 30 years old as ChapEx is specifically designed for engagement and empowerment of the youth

– Be available for the full duration of the event

– Have an interest for the topic of the event

– Proficient English writing and communication skills as the entirety of the event will be in English

Selection process

The selection process will have for objective to form a diverse group of participants with regard to gender, age, experience, competence and geographical origin (urban/rural).

The call for participants includes a section for the recruitment of Trainers and Support Team members. The detailed responsibilities of these two roles are detailed in the form when applying.

You should apply by April 20th, and you will get an answer in the first week of May.

The ChapEx PrepTeam is also searching for Support volunteers.

In the application you can apply to be in the support team.

The support volunteers can be mobilised for the following tasks:

– Helping with check-in/check-out

– Preparation of leisure activities

⁠- Helping with booking the busses (To and from the airport)

– ⁠Helping with ordering materials (Pens, sticky notes, flipcharts etc.)

– ⁠Helping with practical tasks before workshops (Setting up the projector, moving chairs etc.)

A support volunteer will also be specifically working on PR alongside the PR coordinator.

Do you want to be in the trust team?

ChapEx will also have a Trust Team coordinated by the Participant Coordinator and composed of 1 trainer and 1 support volunteer. A Trust Team Member is a volunteer dedicated to supporting participants who might be going through some challenges and provide a safe space for them to talk, feel supported and receive guidance if appropriate.

Practical information

Participation cost: ChapEx is funded by Erasmus+ and therefore free of charge for all participants, including accommodation and food.

Ticket to Denmark: you will buy your own ticket, and it will be refunded after the event up to a certain limit.

You will get an answer in the first week of May.
