Projektet tilbydes i samarbejde med organisationen GVI og nedenfor kan du læse deres beskrivelse af programmet:
Primary school education in Fiji is compulsory, and free for eight years. The Ministry of Education has taken major steps to subsidise educational fees and other costs related to it, in order to make it as affordable as possible to everyone, though it also has meant that schools tend to be overcrowded, and the supply of resources to schools can at times be slow.
This program aims to support under resourced local schools and teachers through the provision of volunteer assistance with teaching, games and other activities. GVI’s partners, the community and local council have requested our assistance with English language teaching, sports education and arts.
*Take Note: During school breaks volunteers will conduct kids clubs in the villages of Dawasamu and assist with other projects necessary at that time. This includes lesson planning, resource making, workshops, gardening or other community programs or improvements and renovations to schools.
The program focuses on:
- Improving literacy and numeracy levels as well as facilitating creative and physical development during art and sports.
- Lesson delivery, enriching school program with new resources and extra curricular activities
Participants will be helping to run components of a structured one-on-one and group education program working with two schools in Dawasmu; Navunisea Primary school and Dawasamu District Primary School. We focus on improving English comprehension and phonics as well as facilitating creative and physical development during art and sports. Other components may involve assisting with lesson delivery and enriching the overall school program with new resources and extracurricular activities
