Projektet tilbydes i samarbejde med organisationen GVI og nedenfor kan du læse deres beskrivelse af programmet:
Assist children from the local community to grow and discover their full potential when you join us in Siem Reap to assist in improving the social and educational landscape. Work with young students teaching English; while giving them space to be creative through educational games, and arts and crafts activities to assist in their fundamental early childhood development. This is a unique opportunity to work with young students and provide a grounding in both English and educational play before they attend school.
This program gives participants the opportunity to develop their teaching style while creating a good educational foundation for young students before they begin school. Participants will have their day split between English classes, lesson planning and leading arts and crafts or games with the students. Participants will experience both what it means to teach abroad, and work from an English curriculum, as well as how to facilitate fun, engaging games and arts and crafts for the students.
Participants are situated in the bustling Siem Reap province, five hours from the capital of Phnom Penh. Our classes are situated around the vast and famous backdrop of Siem Reap – providing a true immersion into Cambodian life. Here you will help contribute towards UN SDG #4, Quality Education by supporting local students in receiving an education and building up their confidence while thinking and expressing creativity through play outside of the classroom.
Through working with such a diverse range of students, participants will gain an insight into the education system in Cambodia, and GVI’s work with the community to increase access to quality education. They will gain in-depth training in teaching and how to lead classes and activities.
Some activities might include:
- Sustainable development training: Receive comprehensive training from GVI’s expert staff on child protection best practices, health and safety protocols, the ethics and etiquette of working in a local context and the human empowerment principles that drive our work.
- Teach English classes: Teach English to students aged 3-18 years using either a structured curriculum or more informal style classes centred around engaging and interactive ways to teach conversational English.
-
Women’s empowerment workshops: lead training and workshops related to women’s empowerment. You could be teaching about a range of topics including language, economic empowerment, or health and wellness.
